I retired a year ago,so I am thinking about getting into metal detecting. I have a bounty hunter guick-draw 2 that my son got me for christmas a few years ago.I just never taken the time to use it much.I live in the country so I have a lot of places that I can hunt. I live on the old farm that was my great grand fathers, and there are a lot of old farms, all around me that had big families.I am in northwast PA.

So I am looking forward to spring so I can get started digging for gold.

Hi Don, welcome to THF:042: you will find that this forum is the best in America with our archives just constantly being mined. Metal detecting is a learning curve and surely takes awhile to get into the swing of things.

First, let me suggest researching "Dan Hughes Detecting Corner" found on the net and /or his book (when you listen to his pod cast, you don't need to buy his book) http://danhughes.libsyn.com/category/treasure This guy will get you started in the right direction.
I've been detecting since .......it's been so long I can't remember.... and I still use his book as a reference.
Keep in touch! :)
