I purchased some 3500 ma rechargeable AA cells the other day and didn't realize until I got them home that they run close to 2 volts fully charged.  Sort of been afraid to use them in anything.  Can the voltage regulator in a Garrett handle that kind of voltage/power w/o damage.  More specifically, can the Infinium...?

Thanks
John

Good Question. When you run 8 AA @ 2volts and it's in series, your pumping a lot of juice ! One thing is for sure, fresh batteries surely perk up a tired detector. Way before the battery indicator pops into view. http://www.had.com/garrett/manual-infinium.html

It's best to contact Garrett on this subject . I'm sure in one way or another voltage and detectors have been a topic of discussion. They do and will reply to your Question.
