I spent a couple of hours hunting at a park near home. First target was a French 5 centimes. After that a handful of pennies and then the silver came. I dug up a 1940 dime at 6 inches and right after that I found the silver Playboy pendant on a hillside. The ring was a heart-stopper. I saw the "diamonds" first but then discovered it was just a junk ring.

Nice wee hunt ikandiggit,
The 1940 dime was a nice find and I liked the playboy bunny. (925 bonus)

Now that is an unusual name for a dog.
A ring is a ring is a ring.

| That was a decent hunt. Do you have any other people that you have to compete against in Winnipeg ? Are there any restrictions on where you can hunt ?

There's a few old timers that go for clad and surface jewelry. A few of the other hunters are into fur trade so they stay away from most of the parks. But, lately some newbies have been tearing up the parks. I have yet to find them but I see their pits all over the place.
Just recently, the park I have been hunting on and off for 3 decades was off limits to me. A couple of summer police cadets decided to make points by stating an out-dated bylaw and preventing me from digging unless I had a permit. It turned out a friend of a friend was close with the head of the park police and I haven't had any trouble since they spoke.
Some of the best sites are off limits because they are National Heritage Sites. Absolutely, no metal detecting!
I've done pretty good in the parks I hunt. The finds are getting thinner but they're still there.

It seems to be happening here in WI. also. So many new people in the parks now with these cheap detectors. They have no idea what they are doing. Just making a mess where ever they go. With gold and silver up so high. They head out with there $39 detector that they got from this mail order house and start digging up things.
I try to talk to them when I see them out there to see if they need any help, most do. I try to tell them about respect and property of others. Fill in the holes and no shovels.
Can't do much in a short time. I don't think most will last more than a few times out and will give it up. Thanks for reading and Happy Trails...Jerry
